I thought that if i let anyone in, they’d find out what was broken about me. And then not only would they know, i’d know too.

Better Up

Better Up

I’m not quite a manager at work. I’m considered an Individual Contributor but I work cross functionally with other teams. And though I’ve been at my role for a while, there’s still a lot of room for me to grow

And so as cheesy as it sounds, I was super happy to take part in the coaching program the company has enrolled me (and a bunch of others) in. I’ve worked with coaches in the past, but not really for work. So it’s a strange and fun experience.

I heard of better up first because Prince Harry (my ex future husband) was a chief impact officer. But didn’t quite understand what it was. But I’m glad I had the opportunity to sign up, because it’s been incredibly helpful to navigate middle management issues.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m able to lean on my boss too. But I’m all about it takes a village to raise a kid. And well, I guess it takes a whole team to make a manager.

And given the over-sharer that I am, it was pretty easy for me to open up and be vulnerable to my coach, Katia. I’m excited to see how much I can grow with this. And hopefully gain more confidence.
