I thought that if i let anyone in, they’d find out what was broken about me. And then not only would they know, i’d know too.

We continue to barrel down towards 2022 and it’s crazy cause time really does fly. Every time, I have to do one of these, I’m like, wait, another freaking month is done? Yes, why yes it is. The vaccine has definitely been the highlight of my month. We’re more than a year in this lockdown, work from home impasse and I’m just glad to have this little tick box crossed out. How was your July?

Loving

  • I am finally fully vaccinated! I started the month with my first dose and ended the month with my second dose and though I need to wait 14 days for it to fully take effect, I am ecstatic. Moderna gang, I feel for our side effects but all worth it! A tiny glimmer of a milestone in this endless hellscape but I am glad for it.

  • Groups of 2 (or three if you’re going to someone’s house). The country is back in some sort of lockdown and to be honest, I’m ok with it, because they still allow us to see 2 people at a time per day. It’s better than a full, complete lockdown and for that I am incredibly grateful. I like small groups! I can deal!

  • The Olympics have been pretty incredible for Team Philippines. Between Hidilyn winning gold (HOLY SHIT OUR FIRST) to Margielyn being amazing and Nesthy and everyone who’s been killing it. Our government and social structures may suck but damn, these folks are inspiring as fuck. Imagine making it to the Olympics without any support whatsoever and against all odds, wining? Hot damn. If that ain’t a kick in a butt.

Working On

  • So I haven’t necessarily gotten clearance but I’ve added swimming back into my exercise regime (slowly!) and between the running and the swimming, I’m feeling a little bit like myself again. Here’s to being more consistent about all of it and slowly building up my times again.

  • Getting used to life without my former boss! It’s going to take a while. I’ve gone through a funk and I hope I got out of it (partially), but the umbilical cord at work has been cut and it’s time for the fetus that I am to fend for myself. I do have my new manager who’s been incredibly sweet and I hope things turn out ok for all of us.

Anticipating

  • It’s that point in the year when I realize, oh wait, I haven’t taken any time off and oh wait, looks like we’re not going anywhere still. So it’s time to fill out the calendar with leaves here and there, given I can only carryover 10 annual leaves next year. And so, I look forward to random days off this August with me just staying home, cause you know, lockdown! But I’ll take it!
