I thought that if i let anyone in, they’d find out what was broken about me. And then not only would they know, i’d know too.

And just like that, Q1 of 2021 is over. We’ve reached the one year anniversary of ‘lockdown’ though like I’ve said, Singapore has been so incredibly awesome that it’s tough to complain about the situation. But a year to March and I’ve sort of gotten a hang of hanging out in groups of less than 8, wearing masks wherever we go and lots of zoom calls. But we’re so lucky. and I’m forever grateful for this privileged life we live here in Singapore.

Loving

  • So much yoga! My friend Intan just so generously passed me her class pack because it was expiring in the end of March and her ultra busy life as a working mom with 2 daughters was just not going to be able to finish them. This means, from my usual 1x a week for yoga, I would go minimum 3x and then by the last week of March, almost every day! Oh the life! It was so good.

  • More beach time is always a good idea and though the weather has been crazy weird — raining really hard then super sunny then back again, I’ve been lucky to be able to go to the beach twice this month. Hopefully I can go some more in the next month because really, a book, a cocktail and just some sun makes me so happy.

  • Though I love me some MacRitchie and now Botanic Gardens, it’s also nice to discover all the other nature walks available in Singapore. I’m spoiled for choice. And though I’m not one to try something new (all the time), it’s nice to break out of my usual routines and see a different set of greenery on the weekends. Here’s to more.

Working On

  • Trying out more new recipes from my Ottolenghi Simple cookbook and so far, all of them have been hits! They may not be as simple as claimed, but everything is difficult for me anyway. Plus, to see how far I’ve come in a year is good enough!

  • Keeping up with the reading! I always burn out too fast with the reading challenge in the first quarter, so I’m hoping I get to sustain it with more realistic reading paces. Luckily, the commutes to the office (I’m going in twice a week now), gives me time to read.

Anticipating

  • The Apple watch has gotten me really focused on closing rings, but every month they have a ‘goal’ for you — and we realised it’s ‘personalized’ to an extent. My April challenge is to double the “move” ring — meaning burn 800 calories 3 times in a month and honestly, it takes so much effort for me to even close the ring, but I’m for this. Wish me luck.
