There is a reason February is my favorite month of the year — apart from it being my birthday month. Oh wait, no that is the reason. I also share my birthday month with 2 other siblings and now my sister’s boyfriend, too! So it’s back to back to back celebrations and though it can be tiring for little old me, I do look forward to this at the start of every year.
Loving
All the love for my birthday. I know I say it every year but I don’t know why I felt it so much more so this year? Is this aging? Hormones? A bit of both? The family and friends that reached out and greeted me and sent things and just reminded me of just how loved I am and when I’m feeling emo and alone, I AM NOT! I hate that I need birthdays to be reminded of this but here we are anyway.
I took a bunch of days off for my birthday (which just so happened to preempt the Lunar New Year and though I couldn’t go anywhere, I’m so happy that the weather cooperated with me. Last year, it rained on my birthday. All day long. This year, the forecast was for another full day of rain, but I asked everyone in my life to pray for good weather and I got a solid six hours of sun while I ordered off every cocktail off the menu and read Barack Obama’s words. A promised land, indeed.
The last movie of the To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before trilogy came out the day after my birthday and we did a watch party with friends. It was nice to just indulge in the young love of Lara Jean and Peter K one last time. I type this out as I listen to LAUV’s I Like Me Better and really, the movie soundtrack is pretty damn awesome, too.
Working On
Incorporating a new park into my weekly walking routine! I recently discovered that I live near one entrance of the Botanic Gardens and it’s quite pretty and a 5KM walk end to end and back! I could always use another outdoor walk in my life, so this was pretty awesome to find out!
Expanding my cooking repertoire! A whole lot of my gifts this year were cooking-related and I’m so excited to use all my goodies, from blenders to pots and pans and aprons and a Yotam Ottolenghi cookbook that’s supposed to be simple but knowing me, it’ll be difficult! But I’m so excited to use it!
Anticipating
Formula One (and Drive To Survive Season 3) comes back into my life in March! And now that I have Raman and Denise to bother/bug/visit whenever there’s a GP and Nikki to text about silly memes and our mutual annoyance at certain drivers, it just makes the experience so much more exciting. Oh I’ve missed it so!
