I thought that if i let anyone in, they’d find out what was broken about me. And then not only would they know, i’d know too.

And that’s it. We’ve made it to the end of 2020 and December 31 is here. I didn’t think this would be how the year ended but I never really do and I guess that’s part of the beauty of it. The house is clean and saged and I’m getting ready to start my Austen marathon if Netflix cooperates (of course, it wouldn’t on NYE). But really, I’m just so incredibly grateful for all the things that brought us here, right now.

Loving

  • My new plants! My former neighbor, Gabe who has gotten me sort of into Tower Running left the building and had planters that fit on the balcony just right. I’m not very good at taking care of them so I ordered some Singapore daises which apparently grow everywhere and are easy to take care of. Fingers crossed they work out ok. My sister-in-law, Ashna’s brother, Milon also gave me a plant but that one isn’t doing too well so I’m a bit worried for it.

  • Chinggay and I have done it. We’ve finished all 40 movies this season from Halmark and we’ve selected the best 12. Shockingly, it was tough this year because Hallmark brought it with the hits. I’m so lucky this year was a good one because the past ones have been really bad. And so, please do give it a listen and watch along with us. They were quite nice.

  • I had way too many leaves and couldn’t bring over all of them so I ended up taking an almost 2 week break and honestly, it’s everything. Yes, I usually take breaks to go on holidays overseas but that isn’t a possibility now so just chilling at home, meeting friends (cause Singapore is quite lucky to be able to do this) and just doing chores at home has been nice. Yes, I did check my mail once or twice but that’s it. It feels really good.

Working On

  • I stupidly signed up for the Rapha Festive 500 which means over 8 days, you cycle 500KM. And I’m not a big cyclist. I cycle for like 30 minutes, 3x a week which is like 30KM so that’s the extent of my distance. I don’t know what possessed me to do this but I did it. Can’t say I enjoyed every second of it, but finishing at 3am on a Wednesday morning, I definitely shed some tears. Totaling around 22 hours of cycling over 6 days, I’m quite proud of myself, no matter how slow I went or how much my butt hurts.

  • All the end of year lists and rituals — and I have so many of them. Filling out the journals, Susannah Conway’s Unravel Your Year, thanks to Chinggay for getting me into it. My brother’s year-end music list. My LJ Scrapbook (even if it’s been demoted to just a list now, it’s still a nice tradition) and just looking back at the year that was. Good times.

Anticipating

  • 2021. For all the craziness and horrible times that 2020 brought, I’m very very very lucky to be where I am today. I do love the arbitrary start of the new year and all those possibilities and am hopeful, as I always am to a better year. Thank you for your support this year and your kindness. Here’s to a better one.
