I thought that if i let anyone in, they’d find out what was broken about me. And then not only would they know, i’d know too.

This month honestly felt like it would never end and between the volcano erupting in Taal to Kobe Bryant and Gigi passing away tragically in a helicopter accident to this corona virus spreading, I was honestly wondering how we could have started this year better. And still, there were lots of things to be thankful and grateful for. I hope February is kinder to everyone.

Loving

  • My A Year of Practical Magic journal. I used to have a diary (like a physical notebook) that I would religiously write in since I was seven years old. And though I’ve since moved to digital documentation with my blog, nothing beats a notebook and some good old stickers. I’ve been filling it out daily (!!!) and it’s been really nice to take some time to look back on the day and stick the stickers! I need more stickers!

  • I finally saw Little Women with my sister Pamy and it was the most adorable and awesome movie ever. It’s definitely joining the ranks of my on-repeat movies because everything about it was perfection. I’ve re-watched it one too many times now. I also caught Knives Out with her and that one gave me a heart attack. I’m really bad with movies.

  • I had a goal of hitting 10K steps per day and I shockingly made it through. I mean, sure, I had to keep walking before bedtime but I did it anyway and that’s a pretty crazy dumb achievement for me and I’ll take it!

Working On

  • The parents coming over for the New Years. I get stressed whenever the parents come here but that’s because I’m an uptight person to begin with my schedules and itineraries so it was nice to be a bit more relaxed about going with the flow and not following the schedule and reservations to a tee. I’ll get better at this eventually. I need to work on that.

  • Knitting a sweater has been something I’ve been wanting to do since forever (I’ve only ever done rectangles — meaning scarves and shawls). So I got a free Wool and the Gang pattern and saw a sale at Spotlight — for some super chunky thread and it’s not perfect but it’ll do. I’m quite proud of what I’ve done. Now if only it were actually cold enough to wear.

Anticipating

  • February is my birthday month and I’m incredibly excited about it. Having your birthday at the start of the year kind of feels like an extension of the holidays — Christmas, New Year, Chinese New Year and then my birthday so lots to celebrate and hopefully no birthday blues this year.
