I thought that if i let anyone in, they’d find out what was broken about me. And then not only would they know, i’d know too.

Let the Ange Era Begin

My journey as a Spurs fangirl has been an interesting one and I’ve felt so supported by Acid and Toby and Suren because of the community they’ve given. And since I’ve started this journey, we’ve gone through some highs (making it to the Champions League final! — I still can’t believe I can write that), some awesome moments (watching them live in London and stalking them in Singapore) and some pretty bad lows (everything else in between).

So when the team announced they were coming back to Singapore for their pre-season training, you knew I was going to be there. I didn’t get to stalk them this time around — I was both packing up my life, struggling with work and at the same time my family was in town — but I wanted to make sure that I could watch them live again. And luckily, Suren was game.

First off, unlike before where Juventus (and Ronaldo!) was the team we were up against, this time AS Roma backed out and so it was back to the Lion City Sailors. And honestly, that wouldn’t have been so bad, except we actually for a second there thought things were going tits up. But they didn’t. Our new manager Ange Postecoglu, honestly feels like the antithesis of every manager we’ve had after Poch.

And that’s a good thing. Our A team made the first half look good and thank goodness for that last minute goal, but the best part is that our second half looked even better and that was the B team. I can’t even consider them a B team now just thinking about it because they were on fire. And what a beauty to look forward to this season.

Ange just seems like a really good guy. Every interview he’s given makes me want to listen to ten more interviews with him. He just feels like a normal person who is exceptionally great at telling stories and motivating people and maybe that’s what we need. So sure, that Harry Kane leaving news did a number on me — and boy have we processed our feelings, I’m still feeling optimistic because we seem to be in good hands.

With Captain Sonny and Vice Captains Cuti and Madders, this new season and all the cute new boys that come with it (VDV the young Jan Vertonghen) and the amazing immense talent of Udogie, Bissouma and Sarr and just the bench we’ve got is making me feel all the feels. Things I haven’t felt in maybe 5 years now. So this is a good thing.

And the first couple of games have been pretty good. Sure, we drew at Brentford, But we creamed Man U and though there are gaps in the style of play, I’m actually looking forward to watching things rather than dreading what’s coming up. So this Is all good. Yes, we’l stumble. Yes, we should just avoid relegation, but really isn’t it how we got somewhere rather than the destination? I don’t know but I’m excited. And here’s to a great season ahead.
