I thought that if i let anyone in, they’d find out what was broken about me. And then not only would they know, i’d know too.

Bangkok Calling

Bangkok Calling

What to do when you have two weeks off? Come to Bangkok of course! Actually it may seem like pre-covid i was traveling like crazy, but after COVID, i definitely went through a bit of a more conservative route with the traveling. But with Malini flying in to Bangkok on the weekend of Joy’s birthday, I was going to be dumb if I didn’t do this.

And I’m so glad I did. Apart from having the most convenient accommodations — my aunt and uncle live on top of a mall which is so incredibly central it’s wild. Tita Ruby is the consummate host, taking me around and just feeding me so much that I honestly gained too many kilos. I didn’t even get to take photos of all the food because it was a LOT. Pad Thais. Green Mangoes. EVERY DAY.

Then of course there are old colleagues/friends whom I haven’t seen in forever. Marina gave birth to Rhys and I finally got to hang with them after forever. Janna now has 2 kids, Rio and Thea and though I did meet Rio when they visited in Singapore, I haven’t seen her weeks old baby Thea who is honestly the cutest. So it was really fun to just see old friends in these new phases of their lives.

I also got all the things that are just a lot cheaper in Bangkok. Massages. Every day. Facials. Manicures. Pedicures. Hair Treatments. And the famous Boots! Just going to Boots everyday even if not to shop, but just to read the products they have that we don’t. Honestly, such a good time.

It was a nice couple of days and I was glad to not be eating like crazy when I got home, but Bangkok is always a good idea, I think!
