I thought that if i let anyone in, they’d find out what was broken about me. And then not only would they know, i’d know too.

I think I’ve documented here how I’ve been struggling to take care of my long hair. The fact that it’s even been this long is already a huge feat for me — the girl who’s had short hair forever! So a year into my incredibly long hair, I finally decide to take the plunge and just perm it.

In a way, my hair is quite virginal — having never done any treatments to it whether color or straightening or a perm. So making this decision was big for me and my virginal hair. I figured I’d get it done in Bangkok because it’s going to be way cheaper than Singapore. After doing some research and messaging potential vendors via LINE, I settle for the salon.

But then I realise, why not just get it done here in Singapore with Den, who has been taking care of my hair for the past 4 years. He got me from pixie to here, so why not right? Plus language barrier and eventually he’ll be the one cutting/trimming it anyway. Plus there’s after care and all the instructions on how to do whatever it is I need to do with the permed hair, cause apparently it’s a lot.

So I finally dd it and I’m quite happy with the results. It’s a softer wave which I keep getting told will fade faster but I really don’t think I could do incredibly voluminous anything. But maybe I’ll eat my words one day. For now, I’m just happy to be able to have to try something new.

Thanks to all the friends I bothered about products and tips along the way! I really appreciate everyone’s group effort to get me here!
