I thought that if i let anyone in, they’d find out what was broken about me. And then not only would they know, i’d know too.

House of the Dragon

House of the Dragon

I fell off the Game of Thrones bandwagon towards the end of the series because I got too lazy and instead did spoilers on Twitter and then just caught up on episodes in the end.

And yet when the series, House of the Dragon was announced, I was quite excited to see it. Maybe it’s the fact that it focuses on the Targaryens or that it had Matt Smith (hello to my first doctor) in it, I thought I would give it a go.

Taylor and I made sure to be up to date by making Monday nights a dinner prep and House of the dragon affair and it was nice to share the ritual with someone. I also started reading the Fire and Blood book just for fun (and I’ve finished the series but not the book but I’ll get there!).

The series turned out to be better than I had expected. I was surprised by the time Jumps (comparing it to the GOT glacial pace) and how a lot of the characters were in one place (as opposed to GOT being all separated).

I also started listened to the official podcast right after each episode and it was nice to get more context and interviews with the stars. I tried staying away from Twitter on Mondays, too.

I’m on Team Black right now (I mean that negroni sbagliato video was a nice plus). And Otto Hightower is scheming but amazing. But I’m quite interested in seeing how it all goes down before the GOT first book. Rhaenyra definitely wasn’t set up for success and I feel for her but I can’t bring myself to be angry at Viserys, no matter how much he fumbled because he’s so incredibly charming and human.

Obviously, Damon is terribly flawed but excited to see how he backs up/inadvertently brings his wife/niece down. When will season 2 come out? Way too long from now but I’m definitely excited.
