Teenage Dream
I’ve always loved a good teen drama so it was so nice to do a rewatch of The OC with my Future Media Empire girls. And with the new Gossip Girl coming out — I’m still on the fence of whether I will be checking it out or not, I’m a bit worried — it’s nice to dive back in to old favorites and immerse myself in my new ones. I’m always probably going to be a teen at heart.
Never Have I Ever
Season 2 just came out (and I can’t believe it’s been a year since I watched the first season in one night, on month into lockdown. How far Devi has come and also not really. It feels like a metaphor for this pandemic to be honest. I was solidly on team Ben in the first season but I knew that Mindy Kaling and team would make me question my allegiances and well, here I am rooting for Paxton thanks to season 2. It’s not much of a struggle because Devi has been horrific that she probably shouldn’t be in a relationship at the moment but it’s been fun to watch,
Also, all the other characters have been interesting! From the very under-utilised Rebeca Hall-Yoshida to seeing more of Devi’s mom, cousin and grandma — i want all of them!!! To seeing a lot more of Devi’s friends and of course Dr. Chris Jackson. Yes to more surprise narrators. I can’t wait for Season 3
Gossip Girl
I’m speaking of the original one because the FME girls have moved on to this in honor of the new GG coming out. And it’s such a trip going back into season 1 years later, when I feel a lot more tired as a human being. Gossip Girl was my life back then and it’s so nice to see familiar characters (Blair forever) and the excessive over the top nature of the Upper East Side.
It’s also a bit creepy (in hindsight) how we all ended up rooting for Chuck but that’s character development for you, I guess. I’m still on the fence on the new version but I should at least try one episode because that’s what we do right? Give things a chance?
Sex Education
And it’s not quite a trailer yet and it’s still coming in September but I could not wait for Sex Education to be back in my life. Season 2 was a pretty good follow up and now we get Jemima Kirk as the new headmistress? Wasn’t she just on Girls?!? Have we aged this quickly that she’s now replacing a middle aged man? Maybe she’s a young headmaster but either way, seeing this teaser made me feel like I aged. By a LOT.
