I thought that if i let anyone in, they’d find out what was broken about me. And then not only would they know, i’d know too.

C'est L'amour

I’ve always been a fan of the French rom-com ever since our days of DVD-scouring back home, when my sister Pamy brought home a copy of Ma femme est une actrice with the real-life couple Charlotte Gainsbourg (forever girl crush) and Yvan Attal. So it’s been so nice to discover more of the movies she’s been in like I Do and Happily Ever After. Luckily, Netflix has come into my life and opened up more French things for my pleasure and this month, I binged on the first five episodes of Lupin.

Lupin

Well, this one sent me into a tailspin. I didn’t think I would finish all five episodes in one night, but there I was anyway, falling for Omar Sy hard. This man, I have no words. I’m not usually to say the words, ‘step on me, sir’ but with this one? Yes, please. Apart from the fact that this is a heist movie (and lord knows I love those), it’s so wonderfully slick and stylish!

We know the French women are going to look so elegant and chic but the men! The men in this one are just wonderful. I’ve tried staying away from them in real life (we haven’t had the best history here in Singapore) so I’ll stick to their fictional selves on TV. And honestly, Lupin is well worth the exception.

I can’t wait for the next couple of episodes even if I have to wait a couple months! Because that cliffhanger was something else.

Call My Agent

I started this one a long time ago but never really finished it and now that I’m on a roll, I thought, why not go with it again and I’m glad I did. I’m sure I would enjoy it even more if I actually knew most of the French stars that star as themselves in this delightful comedy.

Still, I’m excited that there are new episodes because as much as I enjoy incredibly short seasons, I also definitely want more of them. And since travel isn’t happening any time soon, I’m glad I can at least pretend I’m in Paris for a bit.

Hook Up Plan

I was late to this one but when i binged, I went hard and though I prefer the first season to the second one, I have to admit I formed a HUGE crush on Jules (played by Marc Ruchmann) and his long/lanky frame.

His arc in the first season was much more fun for me and the second one just seemed a bit annoying for most of the characters. Still, the friendships were really fun in the first season and since we get one more season (third and final), I hope they give us more friendship and less drama.

I’m always on the lookout for more wonderful French things and thanks to friends like Macy who brought this Twitter thread to my attention, it looks like I now have a queue ahead of me.

Tell me though, what should I binge next? I like them light and fluffy and frothy.
