I thought that if i let anyone in, they’d find out what was broken about me. And then not only would they know, i’d know too.

He's Magic, You Know

I’m still in shock. Waking up on Wednesday morning to news that Mauricio Pochettino has been asked to leave the club broke my heart. Honestly, I don’t think I’ve had THAT many text messages to wake up to in a while and it wasn’t exactly the greatest of things. For what it’s worth, he deserved a way better exit.

I’m not even ready to unpack the replacement news, because things are getting conflated (and I guess they should be) so instead, I’m going to focus on remembering Poch instead.

I’ve had a couple days to process now and honestly, it still hasn’t quite sunk in. In an hour or so, we’ll see the lads play up against West Ham and win or lose, it’ll just feel weird. I know I can’t be in denial forever. This is a new era and we have to move on, but seeing all the tributes (and I’ve just put them all in below because it will be nice to see them all when I feel bad one day, clearly Poch made an impact.

And I know I’ve mentioned it before but recording this podcast in a hurry with Acid and Toby has been highly cathartic. It’s our eighth episode (hard to believe!) and though our music is cheery as ever (thanks again, Pietro, my ultra talented brother), our moods were somber.

We got some laughs in eventually and come on, it’s a very niche topic after all, but it’s always fun. I can’t believe Poch is gone still, but onwards we go anyway.
