Rewind: January 2022
Well the start of the year certainly wasn’t how I thought it would go but I’m glad for it. With all the goals I set for myself, I’m glad that I was able to get some things done.
Loving
I can’t forget the lovely time I spent in nature with friends. Denise’s birthday was spent cleaning up a tiny section of Punggol Beach on a Sunday morning and having a picnic afterward and then spending the rest of the day with her adorable kids up at their place. Denise has been a wonderful friend and I’m always a third wheel to her and Raman. I’ve invited myself over to their place so many times to hang out and watch F1, too. So celebrating her birthday with her on a beach and doing the clean-up was definitely a highlight.
Working On
I put myself up for some roles in the company and those didn’t quite pan through so that was a bummer this month. I also noticed I was getting a bit sad and detached, so I’ve been proactively reaching out to folks I like to hang with and have been setting up drinks after work! I go to the office 3-4 days a week now, a big jump from my 1x a week last year so I’m trying to be more social again. Getting to know colleagues I wasn’t as close to proactively reaching out instead of waiting to be invited is a nice change of pace for a while.
FEELING
This month, I also hit my eighth year anniversary of my moving to Singapore without a job and it’s pretty nuts how much has happened since. Though I’m the sibling that moved to Singapore last, it still feels like it’s been a while and I’m quite thankful for all the wonderful things I’ve been able to experience by living here and I really try not to take it for granted. So thanks, Singapore, for letting me work and live in this country and here’s more more more years to come.
