I thought that if i let anyone in, they’d find out what was broken about me. And then not only would they know, i’d know too.

The Bridgerton Series

The Bridgerton Series

I finally gave in after 2 seasons of the Netflix series to jump in and give the books a go. I had this plan wherein I’d read one Bridgerton book a month so that by the time I finished all the books, I’d have finished the year, too.
But when I got past book 2, I kind of didn’t want to stop. So here are some top of mind thoughts on the series.

  • Daphne: it’s interesting that she’s first despite being fourth but I guess Julia Quinn didn’t realise she would write about all the siblings. Probably not my favorite book but also unpopular opinion that her series also wasn’t as hot for me as it was for everyone else. But it was a nice introduction to the world of the family

  • Anthony on the other hand, I enjoyed the book more than the series though I do adore Jonathan Bayleaf. The angst was a bit much for me when all I want is fluff. I also appreciate the racial twist of the series. The chemistry on the books were off the charts though.

  • Benedict was a character in the series that I was definitely interested in given his rake status and the Cinderella story wasn’t quite doing it for me so I get why it would be skipped over in the series but still a fun romp

  • Colin is the friends to lovers trope and he and Nicola are incredibly cute so i was very excited about this. And this was the first book wherein I definitely could not put it down and I was shrieking. That carriage scene? Yes please. I can’t wait.

  • Eloise, I hear isn’t a fan favorite book wise, but I actually liked it. I liked the pen pal aspect and the gruff Beast nature of her beau. I didn’t appreciate the kids but I never do.

  • Francesca was a lovely surprise cause we never see her in the series and now we get why. I love the widow aspect and the sudden brother is now your lover vibes. But this was pretty hot.

  • Gregory was ok as well but because he’s basically a kid on the show, it was hard for me to imagine him as a man who’s now in a foursome of sorts. But it was interesting nevertheless.

  • Hyacinth was a nice ending and a mystery to boot. But I think I was already tired from reading through all the others. I should probably try reading them again to just make sure.

And i know there are more adjacent books in the wings but maybe I’ll save those for next year.
