I thought that if i let anyone in, they’d find out what was broken about me. And then not only would they know, i’d know too.

And another month bites the dust. April was a good one, with high highs (delivering on things at work!) and good times with family and friends (still never going to be over how incredibly Singapore is handling this pandemic) and some lows, too. Let’s be real, we’re still in this, after all. We’re a third of our way through the year and well, 2021, let’s be a bit kinder given how this just seems to be our literal normal lives now.

Loving

  • Taylor Swift’s new old album. Her re-recording of Fearless has been on repeat since forever and I’m just really happy I get to listen to her older songs with new, fresh ears — and more experience. They still ring true and I’m excited for more of her re-recording of her masters.

  • I don’t usually eat breakfast (because I’m both lazy and have no time), but it’s nice to do it once in a while and I guess that makes it a little bit more special if I don’t get to experience it as often as I should — whether it’s meeting friends before I head to the office or breakfast spreads when you wake up, it’s such a treat.

  • 3 of my siblings in the US being vaccinated already. It’ll take time to reach my parents in the Philippines, but at least half(ish) of the kids are done. I can breathe a tiny bit easier. Numbers are still pretty bad in the Philippines but at least the vaccine is coming.

Working On

  • Maintaining my Duolingo streak! I managed to hit the milestone of a 365-day streak and I hope I can continue, but it feels good to reach that milestone — even if I’m always losing hearts (at Spanish!). I’m really hoping I can match my toddler nephews in their Norwegian and some basic German cause why not.

  • Staying in touch with my siblings. We chat every day, sure but about really dumb things and though dumb, fun stuff is good, it has been a year of this pandemic and truly keeping in touch and checking in is more difficult. Here’s to deeper connections and better listening.

Anticipating

  • The end of the Premier League and seeing how my boys fare this season. Tottenham Hotspur have not been doing too well so seeing where we land on the table with our interim manager should be something. I’m hoping for the best, but given our track record, it’s all we have right now.
