I thought that if i let anyone in, they’d find out what was broken about me. And then not only would they know, i’d know too.

Now I’m In It

Now I’m In It

Having worked from home for the past 78 days now, I’m able to listen to way more music because I’m in my room and I’m somehow more in the zone? I don’t know if it’s just me. Lucky for me, there’s so much new music from people I love that it’s been a joy.

Here’s some of the new music that’s been on repeat for me these past couple of months. What have you been listening to?

  1. Pietro Lazatin (On My Way To Okay) I’ve waxed poetic on my brother’s new EP and honestly, it’s been my morning routine to wake up to his songs. They will never not be relevant to me and I just want you all to listen to him because I am a stage sister, yes. But he is also amazing objectively. Two things can be true at once. Listen to: Waves of Letting Go

  2. Carly Rae Jepsen (Dedicated Side B) I have to give it to Carly for consistently giving us things that we didn’t know we needed. Her b-sides have yet to disappoint and if you have C-sides, girl, give them to me. I will eat whatever you feed me and ask for more. Oh to be able to watch her live one day. Listen to: Felt This Way, This Love Isn’t Crazy

  3. Bruno Major (To Let A Good Thing Die) I discovered Mr. Major thanks to my sibling’s yearly tradition of sharing our top 10 albums of the year (a tradition hearkening back to the early aughts!) and I’m so glad for this recommendation because his new album is a gem that I needed just at this moment. Chill enough. Cool enough. Listen to: Regent’s Park, Old Fashioned.

  4. Dua Lipa (Future Nostalgia) The dance album I didn’t think I needed and really the only way to perk me up in this climate. Dua Lip has outdone herself with his banger of an album — and the crossover with the BBC theme we didn’t know we needed. I have yet to listen to Lady Gaga’s Chromatica but for now, I am good. Listen to: Hallucinate.

  5. Sondre Lerche (Patience) Another of the family recommended discoveries, Sondre Lerche has been a family tradition now from the very very first album and I’m so happy to see his progression as an artist. So jealous of Miss Macy who has watched him live and MET HIM! One day! And until then, we have his latest. Listen to: I Can't See Myself Without You, Why Would I Let You Go.

  6. Lennon Stella (Three. Two. One.) I didn’t realise that Lennon Stella was 1/2 of the sister duo Lennon & Maisy — nor that she was in Nashville (and though I haven’t seen it, it honestly sounds like up my alley: country stars + drama). and it blows my mind to see her all grown up, but I’ve enjoyed a lot of her singles so this was a fun album. Listen to: Kissing Other People, Jealous.

  7. Joshua Radin (Acoustic from Summer Sound) I’ve loved him since forever and I went on a Youtube blackhole some time back but i’s always nice to rediscover an old favorite and have them release new music you enjoy. And though his cover of Only You, will forever be on my favourite list, I’m always grateful for new music. Listen to: This Will Be Our Year.

  8. Kelsea Ballerini (kelsea) I was admittedly late to the Kelsea Ballerini fandom but after hearing Unapologetically later than I’d like, I was quite excited to hear her next foray and it’s another fun one. I saw her duets with Halsey on CMT Crossroads and honestly, they need to record an album together. The crossover again I didn’t realise would work so well. Listen to: Hole in the Bottle.

  9. Niall Horan (Heartbreak Weather) I always feel a sense of pride for my One Direction boys when they release solo music — though let’s be real, I’d love to see a reunion! Still, Niall’s second effort came up just before we all got locked down so I actually have memories of listening to this while walking outdoors without a mask! The Great Before!. Listen to: Black and White.

  10. HAIM (Don't Wanna) Not quite the full length album I was hoping for from HAIM but beggars can’t be choosers and it’s nice to see the sisters back in the fold. It always reminds me of sunny California for some reason and though I won’t be able to visit this year (let’s be honest), it’s still a nice set of singles to pretend I’m somewhere else. Listen to: Now I'm In It.
