I thought that if i let anyone in, they’d find out what was broken about me. And then not only would they know, i’d know too.

Let's Get Lost

We’re month X into work from home and though Singapore is honestly a great place to be, one can’t help but want to get away for a while and I’ve been lucky enough to have pieces of that here and there — so this isn’t a pity post at all.

They announced the SG-HK travel bubble which would allow us to travel to HK and back without quarantine and it honestly sounds like a dream. There’s a lot to consider though. The hugest one would be the $800 testing fees because you get tested at all points of arrival and departure. And then they took it all back, so that pretty much sums up 2020 for everyone.

Then there’s the vaccine races which I’m honestly all for. Are there long term effects? I’m sure, but it would be nice to get a quick adoption to this so things can slowly and I mean super slowly ease back into a semblance of ‘normal’ — whatever that means these days.

Needless to say, things are weird but we’re all just used to this level of weird now. Life in Singapore has been pretty stable and that’s all one can hope for. I wish I could say the same for siblings in the US and the parents in Manila so the worrying does make me feel like I’m still living in COVID-19 land.

So to keep myself sane, I’m continuing with my weekly weekend hikes along MacRitchie but I also tried out the daycation option with some friends at Sentosa and it was quite nice to just lie by the pool/beach and veg out. You really do have to make do and this is more than ok. I feel quite lucky.

I also finally completed the full MacRitchie loop that I’ve been putting off since i started these weekly hikes earlier in the year. It took me 2.5 hours which isn’t bad but it’s also just so nice to zone out and just concentrate on not twisting your ankle as you walk up and down the terrain.

I know we’re still going to be in this limbo for quite some time so I’m looking forward to discovering this island I live in. I might as well.
