I thought that if i let anyone in, they’d find out what was broken about me. And then not only would they know, i’d know too.

Vamos Carlos!

Vamos Carlos!

One of the MANY perks of living in Singapore is the fact that Formula 1 has a track here and a night race at that. It doesn’t hurt that this year, after a string of Red Bull wins, my man Carlos Sainz rocked the track for Ferrari. And even more than that, it wasn't just about the race; it was about finally treating my dad, the dude who got me hooked on this sport when I was knee-high to watch live with me!

It took a lot of logistical back and forth, but my dad who turns 70 next year has yet to retire, so he had to file for leaves from work but as the lights went out, and the cars tore up the track, it was really nice to see my dad in disbelief that he was there watching the race live. I managed to snag Stamford combination tickets so we switched grandstands every day.

We were seated with my brother’s father-in-law, Uncle SK, a non-fan but a great companion and we were seated next to an Australian father and son who were there to support Piastri and their friend, a Hamilton fan, so it was a good group around us.

The weather held out and we didn’t need to bring out the umbrellas or ponchos so that was another blessing. and honestly the Ferrari win was such a bonus because though things haven’t been going as great for the team this year, seeing Carlos, smooth operator the shit out of his strategy in the end, I was holding my breath.

So here's to Carlos Sainz, Ferrari, and the Singapore Grand Prix that's etched in my heart. It wasn't just a race; it was a celebration with my dad. Until the next race, vamos, Carlos! And I hope I can get my nephew into this so there’ll be more of us next time!
